Kingibe Sets Condition For Cooperation With Wike: An Apology

Wike had previously threatened to challenge Kingibe’s position in 2027, criticizing her for questioning his handling of issues such as the state of schools and hospitals in the FCT. In response, Wike questioned Kingibe’s effectiveness as a legislator and made disparaging remarks, suggesting that if she was unhappy with his and the Minister of State’s performance, she could “hang on a transformer.”

In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm, Kingibe stated that she is open to working with Wike, but only if he first apologizes for his comments. She emphasized that, given her seniority, she felt his remarks were inappropriate and lacked respect.

“I’m willing to work with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, provided he apologizes for telling me to hang on a transformer,” Kingibe said. “Once he apologizes, we can move forward. Until then, I believe everyone should remain in their respective roles. Respect and courtesy are fundamental, and his comments were out of line.”

Kingibe also remarked that governance should not be reduced to personal friendships, highlighting that her critique of Wike’s administration was based on policy issues, not personal animosity.
