Despite vehicular restrictions, some market women in places like Ipata and Ganmo continued with business as usual. One trader, Mrs. Iyabo Alata, expressed that she preferred managing her business over voting, stating, “This is the only option that will put food on my table.” Another trader, Mrs. Aishat Usman, shared similar sentiments, emphasizing that elections have brought little change in the past.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, after voting in the Adewole ward of Ilorin West, praised the turnout and affirmed that democracy is thriving. He also commended the security personnel for maintaining order.
However, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo, a Peoples Democratic Party agent, raised concerns about a shortage of election materials. He alleged that many polling units in the Ilorin West local government area received insufficient ballot papers and result sheets. For example, a polling unit with 740 voters only received 350 ballot papers.
Mohammed Baba-Okanla, Chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, attributed the delay to logistical issues, such as breakdowns of vehicles transporting election materials. However, he assured that steps were taken to address these problems and ensure normalcy at the polling stations.
