disclosed that Speaker Mudashiru Obasa expressed reservations about the credibility of the source behind the story, as it appeared potentially unreliable and inclined toward blackmail.
However, Speaker Obasa acknowledged the need to summon the implicated officials of the institution for a thorough inquiry to ascertain the veracity of the allegations, with the aim of safeguarding the institution’s reputation.
“I concur that the committee should extend invitations to those involved to establish the truth about the allegations.
Nevertheless, we must exercise caution not to tarnish our institution’s good name,” stated Dr. Obasa, an alumnus of the institution, further emphasizing that any individuals found culpable should face appropriate sanctions.
During the discussion on the ‘Matter of Urgent Public Importance,’ Hon. Owolabi Ajani informed his colleagues of the necessity to summon the Commissioner, the Vice-Chancellor, and others to the House in order to uncover the truth regarding the allegations.
Ajani emphasized that the Lagos State University (LASU) has maintained a commendable reputation for integrity over the years, and it is imperative to uphold this reputation.
