The Assembly also praised President Tinubu for his decisive actions in discontinuing fuel subsidy and the ongoing distribution of relief measures to Nigerian citizens to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.
In response to a motion put forth by Hon. Demi Saheed, who represents Kosofe 1, highlighting the accomplishments of the President in a short period, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Mudashiru Obasa, emphasized that the era of fuel subsidy, which primarily benefited a select few at the expense of the majority, has come to an end.
While acknowledging that some individuals have not yet fully benefited from the relief measures due to various reasons, Speaker Obasa urged the Federal Government to invest in the provision of buses and other types of vehicles to facilitate the affordable transportation of goods and passengers between states.
Obasa also stressed the importance of establishing healthcare facilities to address the healthcare needs of the populace.
The initiator of the motion, Hon. Femi Saheed, highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the President, including the introduction of the Access to School Loan Scheme, which will provide students who cannot afford tuition fees with access to loans to complete their education.
Saheed also commended the President for plans to introduce vehicles that run on natural gas, a move that will reduce reliance on petrol. He further praised President Tinubu for implementing a unified exchange rate and for condemning coups in certain African nations.
According to Saheed, the 10th National Assembly should prioritize the review of the constitution to align with the needs of the people.
Hon. Abiodun Tobun added that President Tinubu’s foreign investment efforts will create more employment opportunities for Nigerians, potentially reducing the trend of young people seeking low-paying jobs abroad.
