The advisory comes in response to the growing concern about the proliferation of fake drinks circulating in clubs and restaurants across the state. Aregbe emphasized the serious threat that fake drinks pose to public health and safety, prompting his office to launch intensified and coordinated efforts to eliminate substandard products from the market.

Calling on clubs, restaurants, and other public venues where drinks are sold, Aregbe urged them to exercise utmost caution to ensure they do not acquire or serve counterfeit drinks to unsuspecting consumers. He assured the public of a comprehensive initiative aimed at eradicating fake drinks from the markets.

To achieve this goal, Aregbe revealed that the state government would collaborate with Mr. Ononiwu Ezeribe, the Director of Investigation and Enforcement at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the Lagos State Safety Commission led by Mr. Lanre Mojola. A stern warning was issued that any entertainment venue or gathering found serving or selling counterfeit drinks would face immediate closure and suspension of their operating license.

Stringent measures are set to be implemented to ensure the protection of the well-being of both residents and visitors in Lagos. Aregbe disclosed that the ministry is working in tandem with other relevant agencies to ensure full compliance in the eradication of fake drinks from circulation.
