The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had initially declared Eshinlokun-Sanni as the winner of the senatorial election on February 25, a decision that Gomez contested, leading to the filing of a petition before the National and State House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal.
However, the three-member tribunal, led by Justice Faruku Bunza, Justice LTC Eruba, and Justice Kadi Inuwa, dismissed Gomez’s petition on the grounds of abandonment and upheld Eshinlokun-Sanni’s election victory.
