Kogi State lawmaker, representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Leke Joseph Abejide, has threatened legal action against Nigerian journalist Adeola Fayemi for allegedly disclosing his allowances and salaries. According to reports from Naija News, Abejide expressed his displeasure during a House session, accusing Adeola of violating his privileges.

Abejide vehemently denied the allegations made by the journalist and YouTube content creator, citing previous instances of misinformation, including false claims about legislators receiving trailers of rice. He stressed that such misinformation not only damages his personal reputation but also tarnishes the image of all House members.

Addressing the House, Abejide clarified that members openly disclose their salaries and allowances, challenging the accuracy of the figures attributed to him. He stated, “I have nothing to hide. I put up my salary for the whole world to see. We are not hiding anything in this whole chamber.”

Highlighting the financial pressures faced by lawmakers from their constituents, Abejide emphasized the potential consequences of such misinformation on public perception and pledged to pursue legal action against Adeola if the House failed to address the issue.

In conclusion, Abejide called for accountability and integrity in public discourse concerning legislators’ remuneration, asserting the need to safeguard the reputation of the House of Representatives amid ongoing challenges.
