In the early hours of Saturday, a devastating midnight fire swept through a residential building located in Offa, within the Offa local government area of Kwara State. The inferno resulted in the destruction of property estimated to be worth N6.5 million.

Hassan Adekunle, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Fire Service, confirmed the occurrence of the fire incident. He revealed that the rapid response of the firefighting team played a pivotal role in safeguarding property valued at approximately N13.3 million.
Adekunle explained, “The Fire Brigade was alerted to the fire outbreak through a call made by an anonymous individual residing in close proximity to the scene.”
He further disclosed that the firefighters acted swiftly to contain the flames, managing to limit the damage to the storage area and kitchen within the two-bedroom apartment and the adjacent shops. Upon investigation, it was determined that the root cause of the fire outbreak was a power surge.
