Military Operation Leads To Rescue Of Kidnapped Corps Member In BenueTroops from the 401 Special Forces Brigade of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector One, have successfully rescued a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and six other individuals from kidnappers in Tse-Annaka, along the Wukari/Zaki-Biam route in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The corps member has been identified as 29-year-old Samuel Muekara, a law graduate. The other rescued victims include Anaelechi Bob (32), Ayuba Luka (28), Ibrahim Umar (30), Rabiu Muhammad (48), Buhari Ahmadu Saleh (17), and Blessing Ayuba (47). They were all abducted at different times and locations within the same vicinity.

A security personnel, who spoke on condition of anonymity, noted that the bandits terrorizing the Sankara area are known as “Full Fire,” Ayongo, Chen, and their group. He stated that these bandits were part of the notorious gang led by the late criminal kingpin, Terwase Akwaza, commonly known as Gana.

“These armed bandits are familiar to the local population, yet when asked for information, they deny any knowledge. It’s crucial for the community to understand that security is a collective responsibility, and residents should provide necessary information to security agencies, particularly our troops, to help apprehend these criminals,” he said.

Some of the rescued victims, speaking from the military camp in Zaki-Biam, recounted their harrowing experiences of being held hostage for days before the military’s intervention. “We were taken to neighboring settlements like Chito village, Adamawa village, Atereyange village, Ututu village, and Pevkyaa village, where these heavily armed bandits used as hideouts,” they said.

The victims expressed that the armed bandits have turned kidnapping into their primary source of income, carrying out their activities in broad daylight without fear of repercussions. They revealed that families of the bandits often brought them food in captivity, and local residents were too afraid to report the criminals.

One victim, Rabiu Muhammad, was kidnapped while trying to pay a ransom for his cousin Ibrahim Umar, while another, Blessing Ayuba, was abducted after attempting to pay a ransom for her son, Luka Ayuba. The rescued corps member reported that families of the seven victims had collectively raised over N20 million in ransom and other valuables, yet they remained in captivity until the military arrived to rescue them.
