A former follower of the late Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua, commonly known as TB Joshua, named Paul Agomoh, has revealed that he had to go into hiding for nearly eight years after attempting to expose the activities of the deceased head Pastor of the Synagogue Church of All Nations……CONTINUE READING
Agomoh shared this information with journalists after the screening of a 150-minute investigative report by BBC Africa Eye titled “Disciples: The Cult of TB Joshua.” The report featured accounts from former disciples and church staff, accusing the late prophet of manipulation and physical abuse. The disclosure took place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja on Monday evening.
Claiming to be the first prophet under the SCOAN, Agomoh explained that he spent over a decade in the Synagogue between 1995 and 2006. He expressed gratitude to the BBC, highlighting that his journey to expose the alleged misconduct began in 2009. Agomoh faced persecution for his revelations, being pursued across Cotonou, Lagos, and Ghana by loyalists of Prophet TB Joshua who deemed his disclosures as blasphemy.
Describing his experience, Agomoh stated, “I was the first prophet of the Synagogue church, and I spent more than a decade in the Synagogue between 1995 and 2006. And I just want to thank the BBC. This is a journey I started in 2009.”
He recounted the challenges he faced after leaving the church and the subsequent eight years of laying low, not engaging in any ministerial or public activities. Agomoh acknowledged the support he received from a few pastors and friends during this period.
Archbishop Peter Ogunmuyiwa of the African Church, Abuja, commented on the investigative report, emphasizing that it was not an indictment of the church but of the late Pastor TB Joshua. He highlighted the absence of legal charges against Joshua during his lifetime, making it inappropriate to label him a criminal posthumously.
Ogunmuyiwa expressed sadness over such reports and called for the government to enact legislation to regulate churches and license seminaries for training pastors. He stressed the importance of ensuring ministers are well-trained and recognized by the state through a regulatory framework similar to the university commission.
