During her disclosure, Edu highlighted numerous inconsistencies within the program. She expressed concern over beneficiaries who have remained on the payroll even though they’re not present at their designated duties. The Minister revealed that there were beneficiaries who should have departed the program as far back as 2022, but they are still registered and claiming payments.
Edu stated, “We must re-examine N-Power to truly understand its challenges. That’s why we’ve temporarily halted it until a thorough investigation into the funds’ deployment is concluded.”

Furthermore, Edu expressed disappointment in beneficiaries’ misconduct: “A large number of those who should have left the program are still claiming they teach. However, when we reach out to their schools or workplaces, many are nowhere to be found. Despite their absence, they persist in claiming backlogs of eight or nine months. It’s alarming that approximately 80% of these beneficiaries aren’t actively working, yet they assert they’re owed salaries.”
