However, shortly after his inauguration, the subsidy program came to an end, causing the pump price to rise to N537 per litre.

To the dismay of the public, the price of fuel surged further to N617 recently.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) attributed this sharp increase to “market forces,” but Nigerians are expressing their dissatisfaction with the hardships it has brought.

Adding fuel to the fire, a video from Tinubu’s campaign rally in January 2023 has emerged online, where he promised to reduce fuel prices if elected.

Speaking in Yoruba, he assured the audience that despite predictions of petrol prices reaching N200, his administration would review them downward.

However, given the current situation, it appears that these promises have not been fulfilled.
