Nigeria’s Wealthiest University: Late Herbert Wigwe’s Institution Sets New Tuition Standards....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wigwe University, established by the late Herbert Wigwe, former CEO of Access Bank Holdings, is scheduled to commence classes in August, marking a significant milestone in its journey. Herbert Wigwe tragically passed away in a helicopter accident in California on February 9, 2024, alongside his wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizzy.

The institution aims to deliver top-tier education, preparing students for the challenges of tomorrow. Situated in Isiokpo, Rivers State, Wigwe University will offer a diverse range of programs across four prominent colleges: Management and Social Sciences, Art, Science and Computing, and Engineering.

However, prospective students should be prepared for substantial expenses as the university’s tuition fees are expected to rank among the highest in Nigeria upon its official opening.

A glance at the university’s website reveals that the College of Arts offers the most affordable program, with a total fee of ₦9.6 million. For students enrolling in the College of Engineering, Management and Social Sciences, and Science and Computing, the total fee amounts to ₦11,998,800 each.

These fees encompass various aspects such as tuition, books, laboratory resources, personal protective equipment, project lab materials, e-learning resources, health insurance, professional association memberships, student activities, and facility maintenance. Additional charges apply for accommodation, ranging from ₦1,000,000 to ₦3,845,000 per session, depending on the chosen plan.

The university’s management has defended the decision to denominate fees in dollars, clarifying that domestic students will pay in naira while international students have the option to pay in dollars. This approach is strategic, aiming to foster diversity and attract an international student body.

Wigwe University’s impending inauguration heralds a new era in Nigerian education, characterized by premium quality and global appeal.
