Ejimakor’s comment came in response to the demands raised by the #FearlessInOctober protesters, who listed the unconditional release of Kanu among their requests.

In addition to Kanu’s release, the protesters called for the demilitarization of the Southeast region and the release and potential compensation for all EndSARS and political detainees.

Ejimakor emphasized that the demand for Kanu’s freedom is no longer just an Igbo matter but a national concern.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ejimakor wrote, “Lest we forget, the release of MAZI NNAMDI KANU is No. 5 among the demands being made in the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests. That makes #FreeMNK a pan-Nigerian issue, not just an Igbo issue. This should be reckoned with.”
