Earlier on Thursday, members of the Organised Labour had blocked both the entry and exit points of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to protest the assault on Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Joe Ajaero.

While attempting to enter the airport, the protesters were halted by the military and other security agencies at the checkpoint.

In a statement to Daily Trust, Oyekanmi reassured that the NLC strike is not aimed at disrupting the governorship elections in the three states and is expected to proceed as scheduled.

He appealed to both the federal government and the NLC to expeditiously resolve their differences through amicable dialogue.

“The NLC strike is not targeted at the governorship elections and is not expected to disrupt them. However, we urge the federal government and the NLC to resolve their differences amicably through dialogue as quickly as possible.”

Oyekanmi affirmed that all the necessary non-sensitive and sensitive materials for the Saturday elections in the three states have already been dispatched to their respective locations.
