NO ROOM FOR COURTROOM DRAMA!” Tanko Reveals Why 2027 Strategy Must Be Flawless
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Yunusa Tanko has declared that the Obidient Movement is determined to avoid any post-election legal disputes....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Tanko, who serves as an aide to former presidential candidate Peter Obi, made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on a current affairs programme on Eagle 102.5 FM in Ilese-Ijebu.
He stressed that electoral victories should be settled directly at polling units rather than through lengthy court proceedings after the elections.
According to him, the credibility of the democratic process depends on the genuine will of voters at the grassroots, warning that excessive dependence on judicial rulings in election matters could weaken public confidence in the system.
Tanko stated that the movement’s focus is to ensure the process is transparent and conclusive enough to eliminate the need for litigation.
“We don’t want to give any chance for us to end up in court at all,” he said.
He added that elections should be conclusively decided at the polling units, insisting that once a winner emerges, the country should move forward without unnecessary legal battles.
Meanwhile, Tanko has also alleged that a breakaway faction is attempting to falsely associate itself with the Obidient Movement.
In a statement reacting to a press conference held in Abuja by a group known as the Obidient Movement Rebrand group, Tanko maintained that the movement does not recognise any parallel leadership structure.
The group had claimed to have expelled both Obi and Tanko from the movement.
However, Tanko dismissed the claim, insisting the faction has no legitimate connection to the Obidient Movement and urged the media as well as the public to disregard its activities, accusing the group of deliberately trying to create confusion.
