The Scheme disclosed that the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 2026, while the closing ceremony will hold on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

The Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, advised prospective corps members to travel safely to their states of deployment, cautioning in particular against night journeys and emphasising the need to prioritise personal safety during mobilisation.

NYSC management also urged participants to strictly follow the orientation camp timetable to ensure a smooth and successful exercise nationwide.

Established in 1973 to promote national unity and integration after the Nigerian Civil War, the NYSC scheme mandates a three-week orientation camp as the foundation of national service.

During the orientation period, corps members undergo paramilitary drills, physical training, and lectures on national issues. They also participate in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which provides vocational and entrepreneurial training, alongside cultural and social activities.

The NYSC stated that the orientation camp is designed to foster unity, discipline, teamwork, and mutual understanding among young Nigerians across ethnic, religious, and cultural divides, while preparing them for the remaining phases of their service year.
