Chairman of the commission, Joseph Aremo, announced the decision during a press conference in Akure on Saturday, revealing that the election has been rescheduled for Sunday.

Aremo explained that the error came to the commission’s attention, prompting the decision to nullify the initial process and conduct a re-election.

He reassured residents of Ondo West and the state of the commission’s commitment to fairness and transparency.

“We observed that the logo of the New Nigeria Peoples Party on the ballot paper was outdated. The commission has met and decided to provide a fair and unbiased platform for all participating political parties in the election.

“For the chairmanship position where NNPP is contesting in Ondo West LG, the commission has decided that the election is hereby cancelled. The re-conducted election for the chairmanship position will take place tomorrow, January 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“While we expected the party to bring this to our attention, the commission has decided to void the entire chairmanship election in Ondo West.”

Aremo mentioned that the new logo of the party will be featured on the ballot paper for the rescheduled election.

“Everything will be ready before 11:00 a.m. tomorrow,” he added.

The chairman also noted that apart from this incident regarding the chairmanship election in Ondo West, there were no other complaints from other local governments concerning the elections.
