Our Mandate Stolen!’ – Rivers PDP Hits Out At Governor Fubara’s Alleged APC Move
The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of betraying the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
At a news conference in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Nname Ewor, a factional Caretaker Chairman of the PDP, alleged that Fubara abandoned the party amid its ongoing political crisis.
Ewor claimed that part of an agreement between Fubara and President Bola Tinubu—brokered during the governor’s standoff with the State Assembly—was that Fubara would not seek another term. The President also reportedly requested that Fubara reinstate Chief Ohna Awuse as Chairman of the Rivers Traditional Rulers Council, remove Tammy Danagogo as Secretary to the State Government, and dismiss Edison Ehie as Chief of Staff.
According to Ewor, Fubara refused to honor these terms, resulting in the breakdown of the peace pact and the declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State by President Tinubu.
Ewor further alleged that Fubara entered into another agreement with Tinubu just before the emergency rule was lifted, which ultimately culminated in his defection from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Soon after announcing his defection, Ewor claimed, Fubara began boasting that Tinubu would compel the State House of Assembly to pass the 2026 budget.
“The mandate Fubara holds was given to him by the people of Rivers, and all his actions or inactions directly impact those whose mandate he carries,” Ewor stated. “At this critical moment, it is essential for him to disclose the terms of the peace agreement with Tinubu before the emergency rule was lifted, so that Rivers people can make informed decisions.”
Ewor also recalled that the PDP had challenged the state of emergency at the Supreme Court to safeguard its mandate, adding, “Today, Fubara has effectively taken our mandate to the APC, which, in all intent and purpose, is unjust.”
He accused Fubara of misleading party members into attending the PDP convention in Ibadan, only to stay away—a matter now before the courts.
Finally, Ewor affirmed his alignment with calls by Nyesom Wike for the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.
