Baba-Ahmed had dismissed the coalition formed under the ADC’s platform, accusing it of “deceiving Nigerians” with empty promises of rescuing the country from underdevelopment.
In response, the ADC, through a statement signed by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Jackie Wayas, clarified that Baba-Ahmed’s remarks were purely personal and did not represent the position of the ADC or its coalition partners.
The party maintained that the coalition stands as a collective mission to unite opposition forces and present Nigerians with a credible alternative to President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Despite its strong rebuttal, the ADC extended an olive branch to Baba-Ahmed, describing him as a respected voice of integrity and urging him to reconsider and join the coalition.
“Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed’s assertions are his personal opinions and do not reflect the position of the ADC or its coalition partners,” the statement read.
“Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed is a respected voice who has always stood for integrity and justice. Since this coalition is a collective effort requiring the strength of all patriots, we sincerely hope he joins to contribute to our shared vision of a better Nigeria.”
Reaffirming its mission, the ADC called on Nigerians to unite behind the coalition’s transformative agenda, stressing that clarity, unity, and national interest must drive the quest for change.
The statement also highlighted that the coalition brings together notable leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Senator David Mark, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and Mr. Peter Obi—leaders who, after broad consultations, chose to put national interest above partisan divides in pursuit of competent, compassionate leadership.
