Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has sharply criticized his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki, accusing him and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of leaving behind a legacy of infrastructural decay, particularly in Edo Central Senatorial District.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

During an inspection tour over the weekend, Governor Okpebholo visited several deteriorating roads and expressed dismay at their condition. He described the situation as a result of “eight years of neglect” under the Obaseki-led administration.

“These failed roads are what I inherited from Obaseki and the PDP,” he stated, according to a release by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua.

The governor visited key routes in Uromi, including the Onewa-Udomi-Ibhiolulu-Afada-Idumoza-Eko-Uwaya-Ewora stretch, New Agbor Road, and Illushin Road, where he raised concerns over safety risks and economic disruption. Highlighting the strategic significance of New Agbor Road, Okpebholo noted it connects the North to the Eastern region, including Agbor, Asaba, and Onitsha.

Tragically, he recounted the recent death of a young girl swept away by floodwaters, calling it a painful reminder of the need for urgent intervention.

Governor Okpebholo confirmed that his government has already engaged construction firms for immediate palliative work on the roads. “We need to act fast to save lives and improve access,” he said.

He also revealed that during a recent meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, governors were tasked with prioritizing road rehabilitation—a directive he vowed to implement without delay.

“This government is ready to match words with action. We will not waste time in bringing relief to our people,” the governor affirmed.
