The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation has announced that 10 candidates have successfully progressed to the next phase of the rigorous selection process for the position of Accountant-General of the Federation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to a statement by Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Head of Service, the advancement follows the release of results from a written examination assessing candidates’ proficiency in public financial management, auditing, and fiscal policy.

Out of the 15 candidates who participated in the examination, 10 qualified to proceed to the next stage—an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) proficiency test scheduled for Thursday, February 13, 2025. This assessment is a key part of the selection process, designed to evaluate candidates’ ability to integrate technology into modern financial administration.

Government Emphasizes Merit-Based Recruitment

Addressing the development, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to transparency and merit-based recruitment.

“This process underscores our commitment to appointing only the most qualified individuals to leadership roles in public financial management. We believe this approach will promote accountability, integrity, and efficiency in managing public funds,” she stated.

Walson-Jack also commended the thoroughness of the selection process, highlighting its role in identifying candidates with both technical expertise and strong leadership capabilities.

New Accountant-General to Succeed Outgoing Officeholder

The vacancy for the position of Accountant-General arises as the tenure of the current officeholder, Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, is set to conclude on March 7, 2025.

The final appointee will be tasked with overseeing Nigeria’s public finances, ensuring transparency and efficiency in national financial management.

The statement further emphasized that fairness and meritocracy remain at the core of the selection process.

“This recruitment process is strictly merit-based, ensuring that only candidates with demonstrated competence advance,” the statement read.
