Reno Omokri, a notable political commentator, has called out Governor Alex Otti of Abia State for his decision to buy Toyota vehicles over those from Innoson Motors, a local automobile manufacturer based in the Southeast. CONTINUE READING
Governor Otti’s decision, especially given that Innoson Motors originates from the Southeast, has been regarded by many as a missed opportunity to support local industries and boost the Nigerian economy.
In a contrasting move, Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, despite being from the North, has made a commendable decision by purchasing a whopping one hundred vehicles from Innoson Motors for security purposes in his state. This patriotic move was recognized and applauded by Omokri, who took to Twitter to emphasize the significance of such decisions.
In his tweet, Omokri wrote, “Alex Otti, a Southeastern Governor, ought to champion the cause of Innoson Motors, a gem from his own region. Instead, he opts for twenty Toyota Hilux vehicles. In stark contrast, Northern Governor Umaru Fintiri chooses to invest in one hundred Innoson vehicles. Even Aliko Dangote, a Northern Fulani magnate, acquired 3500 trucks worth ₦63 billion from ANAMMCO, a Southeastern enterprise. Good leadership knows no ethnic boundaries.” CONTINUE READING
Omokri’s words bring a timely reminder of the power and responsibility leaders have in setting standards and leading by example. His message resonates with many who believe in the idea of a united Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of decisions that are grounded in competency rather than ethnic affiliations.
He further added, “Sometimes, a neighbor can extend more support and loyalty than one’s own kin. The story of Cain and Abel and the parable of the Good Samaritan exemplify this. It’s time we prioritize merit over blood ties. A united Nigeria is not just a dream; it’s possible and doable. Think capability, not clan. Is anyone listening?”
Many Nigerians continue to echo Omokri’s sentiments, calling for leaders who prioritize the nation’s interests over personal or regional gains.
