Human rights activist, Israel Joe, revealed in a conversation with Vanguard that the money and belongings were handed over to him and his team on Friday. The restitution amounted to nearly N89 million and was acknowledged and released the following day.

Joe expressed appreciation for the efforts made to seek justice, stating, “We had gone severally to Port Harcourt and Abuja in search of the truth and justice that has been delivered to us.” He further highlighted that the individuals responsible for the crime, including the IPO Emmanuel Eteng and his group, are facing disciplinary actions within the police force for their false use of the names of the IGP and other top officers in the extortion scheme.

The human rights activist conveyed gratitude to Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and his team for their commitment to justice and the cleanup of the Rivers State Police Command. He also urged the newly appointed Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Tunji Disu, to maintain vigilant oversight of the activities of unscrupulous policemen to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents from reoccurring.
