Leading a prominent delegation, Governor Fubara visited Governor Douye Diri at his residence in Sampou, Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area. During the visit, Fubara addressed the recent crisis in Rivers, deeming it unfortunate. He assured that his administration was actively addressing the issues, focusing on the overall development of the state.

Governor Fubara expressed the readiness of Rivers State to engage in dialogue and resolve any legal matters involving both states. He emphasized the shared identity and purpose of development between Rivers and Bayelsa, emphasizing the need for a cooperative approach.

“There is no difference between Rivers and Bayelsa. The creation of Bayelsa was for development purposes. We are one and the same people. My visit is a unification meeting. We are here to tell our brother that we want to work together for a common purpose, which is the development of both states,” said Fubara.

Acknowledging the solidarity of the people of Bayelsa during challenging times in Rivers, Governor Fubara highlighted the interconnectedness of the two states. He stressed the significance of peace, citing it as a crucial element for development, and expressed gratitude for Bayelsa’s support.

Governor Douye Diri, in response, urged his Rivers State counterpart to prioritize peace, emphasizing its indispensable role in achieving the vision for state development. Diri emphasized that no progress could be made in the midst of a crisis and reiterated the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment for sustainable development.
