He urged President Tinubu to focus on curbing corruption, as he believed that merely reducing the number of ministers might not suffice if corruption remains unchecked.
“Even if the country has 37 ministers, what would happen when they become contractors and siphon public funds? If you have National Assembly members establishing companies and going to the NDDC and MDAs to pursue contracts, they are supervising and padding the budget,” Adebayo stated.
Addressing the proliferation of agencies and parastatals, Adebayo criticized the tendency to establish new entities rather than integrating functions within existing structures.
He referred to this practice as the “establishment curse” and highlighted how it contributes to inefficiency and wastefulness.
Adebayo pointed out that these agencies often become long-standing entities with associated administrative expenses, without necessarily delivering impactful outcomes.
He cited the tendency to create new offices even for temporary projects, leading to a cycle of expanding bureaucracy with little tangible results.
He concluded by urging a focus on measures that address the root causes of inefficiency and corruption, rather than simply reducing the number of ministers or agencies.
