Akintola urged women to be more realistic about relationships and the prevalence of cheating instead of living in denial.

She said:

“The majority of our men cheat. Your father cheated, sir. Sorry, but it’s true. Your grandfather did too. Polygamy is part of our culture. My own father had two wives.

I don’t know where this idea of fidelity came from in Africa. The reality is that 90 to 99% of our men cheat — it’s in them. Some even grew up following their fathers to meet girlfriends.

You leave one man because he cheated, then go to another, the same problem. Even Jessie cheated on Beyoncé. Did she leave him? No. So let’s face the reality we are living with.”

Meanwhile, Akintola also reflected on how Nollywood has changed over the years, lamenting that the industry today is more focused on glamour and appearance than passion for the craft.
