Speaking on Saturday in Abuja during a one-day retreat for presidential aides and heads of units in his office, Shettima emphasized Tinubu’s determination to reshape the nation’s economic landscape for the benefit of all Nigerians. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to changing the fortunes of this country. Our goal is to leave behind a united and prosperous nation for future generations,” Shettima stated.

Acknowledging the challenges the economy has faced, the Vice President reassured the gathering that Nigeria has turned a corner. “Yes, the economy has faced difficulties, but we are now on an upward trajectory. With oil production at 1.8 million barrels per day, the economy is headed in the right direction. I am confident that in the coming year, we will see significant growth,” he added.

Shettima urged presidential aides to work together more closely and intensify efforts to help President Tinubu fulfill his mandate. “The country is greater than all of us. Let’s work as a team and as a family to ensure we achieve our collective goals,” he urged.

In his welcome address, Senator Hassan Hadejia, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President (Office of the Vice President), explained that the retreat was designed to foster collaboration among aides, ensuring a smooth execution of tasks in the Vice President’s office. “The aim of this retreat is to enhance strategic communication, streamline project funding and partnerships, and improve collaboration across the presidency,” Hadejia said.

Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, commended the efforts of the aides, particularly in strategic communication, and stressed the importance of improving collaboration within the presidency. Dr. Aliyu Moddibo Umar, Special Adviser to the President on General Duties, encouraged the aides to contribute their knowledge and expertise, remain humble, and stay focused on delivering results. “The task ahead is difficult, but our primary responsibility is to deliver on the work,” Umar said.

The retreat was attended by senior aides in the Vice President’s office, including the Permanent Secretary in the State House, Mr. Olufunso Adebiyi; Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Mr. Tope Fasua; Directors and Deputy Directors in the office of the Vice President, and other key officials.
