Show Your Proof Or Face The Law! — Pastor Chris Okafor Fires Back At Doris Ogala, VDM
The legal representatives of Lagos-based cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor, have issued a challenge to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), and several online bloggers, demanding that they present concrete evidence to the Nigeria Police to support allegations made against him or risk facing criminal prosecution.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday, Pastor Okafor’s counsel, Ife Ajayi, lead partner at Sovereignty LP, described the allegations circulating on social media as false, malicious and part of an organised campaign of cyberbullying, blackmail and public incitement.
Ajayi said the accusations, which resurfaced prominently in December 2025, originated from Ogala and were widely amplified by bloggers and digital platforms without seeking a response from his client.
“Our client is a private citizen and a law-abiding Nigerian. What has occurred is not responsible journalism or advocacy, but an attempt to subject him to trial by social media,” Ajayi said.
Origin of the Allegations
According to Ajayi, the controversy began in late 2024 following a business arrangement involving Ogala and a third party, from which Pastor Okafor later withdrew after determining that the intended objectives could not be achieved.
He said Ogala subsequently alleged that the cleric owed her ₦45 million, a claim he described as baseless. Ajayi explained that the narrative later shifted from financial claims to alleged romantic involvement, and eventually to allegations bordering on criminal misconduct.
“Each time one claim failed to gain traction, another emerged. It was a deliberate pattern designed to see what would stick,” he said.
Ajayi disclosed that Ogala had previously been arrested and charged for cyberstalking, cyberbullying and issuing threats over similar online conduct, a case that was later resolved through an out-of-court settlement endorsed by the court.
He said as part of the settlement, Ogala received an agreed sum and committed to refraining from contacting or making public references to Pastor Okafor.
“At no point during those proceedings did she allege rape, sexual assault or any romantic relationship. Those claims only surfaced after the settlement was allegedly breached,” Ajayi stated.
Police Involvement
The lawyer said new petitions were filed with the Nigeria Police following renewed online allegations, leading to Ogala’s arrest and interrogation shortly before Christmas 2025.
According to him, Ogala denied some of the more serious accusations attributed to her online during police questioning and requested legal counsel. She was later granted administrative bail on medical grounds and cautioned against returning to social media with unverified claims.
Ajayi alleged that despite this warning, fresh allegations resurfaced online, including claims of sexual offences and the portrayal of individuals as alleged victims.
Criticism of Bloggers and Influencers
Ajayi criticised VDM and other online platforms, accusing them of abusing their influence by soliciting accusations from the public and presenting unverified claims as established facts.
“You cannot simultaneously act as accuser, investigator, prosecutor and judge. Allegations of serious crimes must be reported to law enforcement agencies,” he said.
He added that formal complaints had been lodged against individuals spreading the allegations and that several social media accounts were currently under investigation.
Ajayi maintained that Pastor Okafor fully cooperated with police investigations, honoured all invitations and submitted evidence countering allegations of rape, child abuse or murder.
He said the Lagos State Commissioner of Police directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to handle the case, and that the cleric was released after responding to inquiries.
“There was no instance of evading police summons,” Ajayi said.
Ultimatum to Accusers
Ajayi challenged Ogala, VDM and others to submit their allegations and supporting evidence directly to the police.
“If they believe their claims, they should present them to law enforcement. Otherwise, we will explore all available legal remedies,” he warned.
He urged the public to allow the police to complete their investigations and cautioned against mob justice driven by social media narratives.
“This is a society governed by the rule of law. Social media outrage cannot replace investigation, evidence and due process,” he concluded.
