Tension In The Air As Court Fixes Judgment Date in Nnamdi Kanu’s Terrorism Case

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has scheduled November 20 to deliver a ruling in the terrorism trial of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The judge announced the date on Friday after Kanu failed to open his defence, despite being granted six days to do so by the court.

Justice Omotosho stated that the IPOB leader could not claim to have been denied a fair hearing, having failed to take advantage of the opportunity provided.

Earlier, Kanu filed a motion challenging both the competence of the charges and the jurisdiction of the court to try him.

The court temporarily stood down the proceedings for an hour after Kanu, who is now representing himself following the disengagement of his legal team, expressed his intention to file his defence.

In his filing, Kanu argued that his trial was illegal, insisting that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, under which he was charged, had already been repealed and was no longer valid.
