The announcement was conveyed in a statement released by the institute’s spokesperson, Mr. John Kolawale, on Friday in Zaria. The reappointment, effective from January 13, was officially communicated through a letter signed by Sen. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

The decision aligns with the provisions outlined in the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology Act of 1986, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria. Mr. Kolawale highlighted Dr. Bayero Farah’s exemplary track record and outstanding achievements, citing his instrumental role in the significant and unprecedented transformation of NITT since its establishment in 1986.

Having joined NITT in 1994 as a Senior Staff Development Officer, Dr. Farah’s professional journey includes prior roles as a classroom teacher and a National Population Census Cartographic Officer. His dedication and progress within the institute led to his elevation to the position of Director in 2013, culminating in his appointment as the substantive DG/CEO on January 13, 2020.
