He urged Northerners with presidential ambitions to exercise patience until 2031, assuring that Tinubu enjoys total loyalty and support in Niger State, where, according to him, “there are no dissenting voices.”

Speaking during an interview on TVC, Bago emphasized the importance of maintaining the North-South rotational presidency.
“When President Tinubu completes his eight years, power will return to the North, and those interested can then contest. In Niger State, we stand united. Nigeria is stable today because we agreed to a system of rotational governance—eight years for the North, eight years for the South. He has only spent two years in office, yet some are already demanding power for the North. That’s unfair; we must respect the agreement,” he said.

On the issue of borrowing, the governor dismissed criticisms, insisting that his financial decisions should not concern the public. He argued that his priority is securing funds for development projects, even if it requires controversial measures.
“If I decide to sell Niger State to fund projects, what’s your business? People should wait until I complete my eight-year tenure to assess my performance. By then, I will leave the state debt-free and show clearly what I inherited and what I handed over,” Bago declared in Hausa at a stakeholders’ meeting with Tafa, Gurara, and Suleja local governments on August 11, 2025.

Defending his administration, he stressed that he had not yet begun borrowing extensively, unlike previous governments whose loans yielded little. “People worry I’m taking loans, but I haven’t even started. Why are they taking medication for my headache? Let them wait and see results.”

Addressing concerns about failing infrastructure, Bago argued that his administration was repairing decay inherited from past governments.
“They claim schools, hospitals, and roads have deteriorated under me in just two years. That’s not true. We are fixing what we met on the ground. We won’t trade insults because we belong to the same party, and we’re not fools,” he maintained.
