Trump Not Behind Christian Genocide In Nigeria – Ex-INEC Boss Clears Air On US Motives
Former National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Lai Olurode, has cautioned Nigerians against appealing for foreign military intervention to address the country’s insecurity, citing the recent U.S. operation in Venezuela as a critical warning.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement obtained in Osogbo on Sunday, Olurode urged those calling on former U.S. President Donald Trump to “rescue” Nigeria’s Christian population to reconsider their position.
He explained that the U.S. invasion of Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolas Maduro clearly demonstrate that America’s main objective is the control of global energy resources, rather than humanitarian concerns or protection of religious groups.
“Claims of humanitarian intervention or concerns about Christian persecution are nothing but smokescreens,” Olurode said. “The invasion of Venezuela and the seizure of its President and oil fields show that concepts like sovereignty, tolerance, and democracy have been reduced to nonsense.”
Olurode emphasized that Trump, unlike many of his predecessors, shows little respect for national sovereignty.
“President Trump disregards the right of nations to govern themselves. Sovereignty simply isn’t in his dictionary,” he noted, adding that his foreign policy reflects a return to global Darwinism, where the strong dominate the weak.
He warned that this aggressive posture threatens not only developing nations but could eventually extend to even European countries.
Olurode called on the international community to uphold global peace and defend the rights of nations to self-governance without external interference.
He further advised Nigerians advocating U.S. intervention to protect Christians or address Nigeria’s security challenges to rethink their stance.
“America’s interests are narrowly defined and focused on its own strategic objectives, not the wellbeing of Nigerians or even the broader American populace,” he said.
Concluding his statement, Olurode reiterated that the U.S. actions in Venezuela, including the seizure of President Maduro, are indefensible.
“America’s attack on Venezuela and the abduction of President Nicolas Maduro cannot be justified on any rational grounds,” he said.
