UK Charity Faces Backlash For Hiring Nigerian Man With Conviction For Sex Trafficking In France....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A Nigerian man, Peter Omoruyi, previously convicted for sex trafficking in France, allegedly found employment with a British charity named Streetz Ahead Creative Housing.

Streetz Ahead Creative Housing, a family-run business, offers personalized care and support to vulnerable girls aged 16 to 30.

Omoruyi, aged 36, secured a job at the charity, reportedly exploiting a legal “loophole” that exempts unregulated care homes from certain oversight requirements. This loophole allowed him to work at the charity despite his conviction for four offenses related to modern slavery and human trafficking in France in June 2022, for which he was sentenced to six years in prison.

Although Omoruyi was hired as a support worker at the charity, catering to vulnerable teenagers, including girls, he did not disclose his conviction during the hiring process.

Streetz Ahead Creative Housing, situated in Stroud, Gloucestershire, operates outside Ofsted’s regulatory purview as it is yet to be registered with the agency. Consequently, it does not mandate rigorous checks, such as screening for overseas convictions, on its staff.

Upon learning of Omoruyi’s conviction and pending extradition, the charity claimed ignorance, indicating they were unaware of his background until informed by the media.

Omoruyi, who was arrested under a European arrest warrant while attempting to travel to Nigeria, has since left the charity. However, his employment raised significant concerns about the effectiveness of background checks and regulatory oversight in similar care settings.

Despite assertions of innocence and ongoing legal proceedings, Omoruyi’s employment at Streetz Ahead highlights potential loopholes in oversight mechanisms for care homes, particularly regarding overseas convictions.
