Soyinka, in a statement through his spokesperson, Jahman Anikulapo, drew attention to the historical context of political violence, notably the unresolved murder of late Bola Ige. Citing Ige’s case, Soyinka emphasized that the perpetrators of the crime remain unidentified. Expressing concern for Agunloye, a key witness in the Ige case, Soyinka warned of the potential danger Agunloye might face while in detention.
