The Kaduna State government has reassured that “almajiri children in the state will receive high-quality educational opportunities,” alongside highlighting the success of its school feeding program. Dr. Fauziya Buhari-Ado, Special Assistant to Governor Uba Sani on the school feeding initiative, shared this during an event celebrating Eid el-Kabir at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua bilingual primary school in Maraban Gonda, Sabongari local council. She emphasized the government’s commitment to providing both Western and Islamic education to underprivileged children, aiming to enhance educational access for disadvantaged youths across the state.

Furthermore, Dr. Buhari-Ado noted that the school feeding program, which has already cost the government over N4 billion, has significantly boosted school enrollment and retention rates while stimulating the local economy. She mentioned that approximately 25,000 pupils from all 23 local councils of Kaduna State are currently benefiting from this initiative. The event included various activities such as the slaughtering of a sacrificial ram, a special Eid lunch, cake cutting, and the distribution of gifts, providing an opportunity for interaction with pupils who were previously out-of-school.

AbdulHamid Ahmed, an official from an Islamic school, commended the initiative for creating an enabling environment that offers equal educational opportunities to vulnerable children. Magaji Datiya, the village head of Filin Malawa, expressed gratitude to Governor Uba Sani’s administration for its thoughtful efforts in this regard.
