Reflecting on the instability and property damage witnessed in the previous election, the Kogi REC expressed confidence that the commission is making preparations to ensure a free, fair, and credible election for the November 11 governorship polls in the state.
Longpet announced that the final list of candidates participating in the gubernatorial election has been published, and public campaigning is set to commence on June 14.
He urged all stakeholders to focus on issue-based campaigns and cautioned supporters to strictly adhere to the amended rules outlined in the Electoral Act of 2022.
Furthermore, the REC called on political actors to reject thuggery and other forms of misconduct in order to foster a peaceful electoral process.
