A video circulating on social media showed the woman’s sister, Ndifreke Amos, in tears as she accused hospital staff of negligence. According to her, she rushed her pregnant sister to the hospital on Saturday, August 30, 2025, for an emergency caesarean section but was told no doctors were available.

She alleged that the expectant mother was left unattended for more than three hours without any medical intervention. When surgery was eventually carried out, the baby had already died. By Sunday morning, the mother also passed away due to excessive bleeding.

“My sister died because there were no doctors. They didn’t open the theatre; she was abandoned for hours,” Ndifreke cried in the viral video, appealing directly to the state governor for justice. She further alleged that requests for blood in anticipation of complications were ignored until it was too late.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Umo Eno expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and directed the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, to set up a high-powered commission of inquiry comprising medical and legal experts.
