The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has, through his legal team, directed Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), to immediately remove all materials linking him to allegations of murder, bribery and other criminal acts.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The demand was conveyed in a letter dated July 6, 2026, obtained by Punch. The letter was signed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kemi Pinheiro, on behalf of Pinheiro LP, legal representatives to the Chief of Staff.

The legal notice followed a press conference held on June 25, during which Adeyemi accused Gbajabiamila of demanding a share of the PFIPC’s alleged take-off grant, receiving money through proxies, abusing his office and participating in an alleged criminal cover-up. Adeyemi also referred to the Chief of Staff as “a murderer” and “an assassin.”

Adeyemi is currently facing criminal charges before the Federal High Court in Abuja in Charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/652/2026, FRN v. Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew & Ors. He is accused of offences including allegedly forging an appointment letter bearing Gbajabiamila’s purported signature and counterfeiting presidential letterheaded papers to fraudulently present himself as a government official. The Presidency has also described the PFIPC as a fictitious agency.

According to the letter, Adeyemi made nine defamatory allegations during the press briefing, including claims that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the council’s alleged ₦27.4 billion take-off grant—estimated at about ₦12.5 billion—and received ₦400 million through proxies in relation to appointments connected to the organisation.

Gbajabiamila’s lawyers dismissed all the allegations as entirely false and defamatory, arguing that they were intended to portray him as corrupt, dishonest, criminally liable, morally bankrupt, administratively incompetent and unfit to hold public office.

The legal team further maintained that Gbajabiamila has never met, communicated or had any personal or official relationship with Adeyemi, describing the allegations as reckless, malicious and baseless.

“You have never at any time met, interacted with, communicated with, or had any form of personal or official dealing whatsoever with him. The decision to fabricate and publish allegations against a person with whom you have had absolutely no relationship or interaction underscores the reckless, baseless and malicious nature of your publication,” the letter stated.

The lawyers also criticised Adeyemi for making the allegations publicly after criminal charges had already been filed against him, noting that many of the issues raised at the press conference are already before the court.

“It is even more disturbing to our client that you resorted to defaming him through your press statements after a criminal charge had been filed against you,” the letter added, stressing that “trial by media remains unknown to Nigerian law and cannot be a substitute for due process.”

Gbajabiamila is demanding that Adeyemi cease making further defamatory statements, remove all related videos, recordings, transcripts and other materials from every platform where they were published, issue a full retraction and apology in at least five national newspapers as well as across all social media platforms where the allegations were circulated, and provide a written undertaking that he will refrain from making similar publications in the future.

The letter warned that failure to comply with the demands within 72 hours of receiving the notice would leave Gbajabiamila with no option but to institute a ₦10 billion defamation lawsuit against Adeyemi.
