According to Premium Times, police officers visited the Ogbomoso residence of Adeyemi’s parents on two occasions—last Wednesday and again on Monday—as part of the ongoing investigation.
A police source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Adeyemi’s parents informed officers that he had spent Monday and Tuesday in his hometown before travelling to Abuja on Wednesday. The officers reportedly arrived at the residence shortly after his departure.
The source further alleged that officers who visited the family home last Wednesday temporarily confiscated the mobile phones of Adeyemi’s parents during the operation.
During Monday’s visit, another team of investigators reportedly questioned Adeyemi’s father and requested the telephone numbers the family had used to communicate with him.
According to the source, Adeyemi’s father also accompanied the officers to another property allegedly owned by his son after they inquired about other residences linked to him.
Reports claiming that Adeyemi’s father was arrested could not be independently verified.
Efforts to obtain an official response from the Nigeria Police Force were unsuccessful, as the Force spokesperson, Anietie Iniedu, did not respond to telephone calls or text messages seeking comment.
Adeyemi is at the centre of an ongoing investigation into allegations surrounding the operation of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and the alleged use of forged government appointment documents.
The Presidency has distanced itself from both Adeyemi and the PFIPC, maintaining that no such government agency exists.
Adeyemi has denied the allegations against him and has stated that he intends to challenge the charges in court.
The Federal Government has filed an eight-count charge against Adeyemi and two other defendants over allegations of forgery and impersonation.
The controversy gained national attention after the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, publicly disowned Adeyemi and the purported council.
Investigators are also expected to question officials and institutions alleged to have processed documents and correspondence connected to the PFIPC as the investigation continues.
