Kwara State Governor Approves N10,000 Monthly Assistance For Workers Amid Fuel Subsidy Removal

Apart from the cash support, the governor also directed the civil service to implement a staggered work schedule, not exceeding three days a week, to reduce transportation expenses for workers.
Furthermore, the governor approved the payment of new hazard and skipping allowances, as well as 100% CONMESS (Consolidated Medical Salary Structure) for consultants and medical doctors under the government’s payroll.
Additional allowances were also granted to nurses working for the state government to improve healthcare services and retain medical personnel.
The government is committed to supporting its workers and has also backed the immediate cash-backing of promotion arrears for various commissions, including the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) and State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
In addition, the state government extended free bus rides for tertiary institution students and activated a plan to occasionally distribute food to vulnerable households in a nonpartisan and coordinated manner.
To support small traders and MSMEs, the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) will be activated, providing conditional support worth N500 million.
Furthermore, the government plans to receive fertilizers and grains from the Federal Government to boost farming outputs and enhance food security.
A committee will be established to address the issue of extortionist tendencies among marketers, particularly regarding the arbitrary fixing of food prices, which imposes hardships on the populace.
