He made this declaration during a meeting with Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Paramount Ruler of Remoland, and his council chiefs at the Akarigbo Palace in Sagamu.
Expressing deep concern over the rampant violence and disruption of peace in Sagamu and its surroundings, Governor Abiodun emphasized that his administration would not tolerate the actions of unruly individuals causing chaos in any part of the state.
He conveyed his sympathy to the law-abiding citizens of Sagamu and those who have suffered losses due to these incidents.
The governor pledged to spare no effort in apprehending and holding accountable all individuals, whether directly or indirectly involved, in the recent crimes.
Governor Abiodun highlighted his authority to invoke the death penalty, asserting that understanding the severe consequences of their actions might lead people to reconsider their involvement in criminal activities.
To bolster security measures, he called upon the Commissioner of Police, the Director of the State Service (DSS), the Commander of the Civil Defence, the AMOTEKUN Commander, and the state’s security apparatus to relocate to Sagamu.
He also stressed the importance of collaboration with local traditional leaders, as they possess valuable grassroots intelligence to identify those involved in criminal activities.
Furthermore, the governor reiterated his commitment to demolish houses linked to cultism or kidnapping, as previously announced.
However, he acknowledged the challenges posed by unsuspecting landlords who unknowingly rent their properties to such individuals and expressed a need for a more effective approach in handling these situations.
