He stated that the opposition party and its candidates are troubled by the high level of insecurity in these two states.
Abure alleged that the offices of the Labour Party (LP) in Imo and Kogi have been subjected to multiple attacks by unidentified gunmen during the election campaigns.
He further claimed that in some instances, security agencies appeared to be accompanying those responsible for the attacks.
The LP chairman emphasized that the party is particularly alarmed by the security challenges in Imo and Kogi, while acknowledging that Bayelsa State has not experienced such a severe level of insecurity.
He stated: “The security situation in Imo and Kogi, especially, is a major source of concern for my party and our candidates.
Our party offices have been targeted by unknown gunmen on multiple occasions throughout the campaign.
There have been instances where security agencies appeared to be involved in or present during these attacks.”
“Our primary concern as a political party lies in Imo and Kogi. Bayelsa experiences comparatively less violence, and we are not deeply troubled by the security situation in Bayelsa State.”
