Southern Kaduna Peoples Union verified the distressing news, indicating that approximately 50 residents fell into the hands of the marauders, among them a retired CBN director.

He urged for intensified military operations against bandits throughout the state in response to the assaults in Igabi and Kauru LGAs. These sentiments were conveyed by the Overseeing Commissioner, Internal Security and Home Affairs, during an onsite evaluation of security conditions in Gwada and Kerawa villages in Igabi LGA.

According to sources, the onslaught occurred on Friday night, minutes after 10 p.m. Bandits descended upon a family residence, where they abducted both a brother and his spouse. Tragically, as residents attempted to intervene, the bandits unleashed gunfire, claiming the lives of six individuals on the spot and leaving six others wounded.

Among the deceased were Danmasani Gwaska, Mrs. Giwa John, Kapishi Barmu, Ganya Ubangida, Shigama Salisu, and Gani Magawata. The abducted included Zakariya Markus (retired CBN director), Monday Markus (brother of the retired CBN staff), Mrs. Monday Markus (wife of Monday), Alhamdu Makeri’s son, and Baban Fati of Kauru, alongside several others.
