As per the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), on October 16, 2023, during a ZIMSEC Mathematics examination at Commercial College, two students, Shellington Brown and Mirriam Maposa, had conspired with Mugadhuwi for him to write the exam on their behalf. Despite this agreement, both students went ahead to sit for the exam, pretending to take it legitimately.

Upon completion of the exam, Mugadhuwi carried out his plan by clandestinely substituting the original answer sheets of Shellington Brown and Mirriam Maposa with ones he had prepared in advance to ensure favorable outcomes for them. For his services, Mugadhuwi received US$380 from Shellington Brown and US$300 from Mirriam Maposa.

However, their scheme came to light when ZIMSEC released the exam results in January 2024. Shellington Brown and Mirriam Maposa were shocked to discover that their results were withheld due to the irregularities detected.

Following an investigation, Mugadhuwi was apprehended on March 22, 2024. Upon being found guilty, the court imposed a fine of US$150 on him as punishment for his actions.
