The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria made this announcement through a state broadcast on Monday.

Furthermore, the governor revealed plans to offer complimentary antenatal and delivery services to pregnant mothers at state primary health centers and general hospitals.

Governor Soludo outlined various strategies to alleviate financial burdens. Transporters, including keke (tricycle) and minibus operators, will experience a 20 percent reduction in Internal Generation Revenue (IGR) payments effective from September 1.

The governor also declared exemption from taxation and levies for categories such as artisans, okada (motorcycle) riders, and petty traders with a capital of less than N100,000.

In his address, Soludo emphasized the importance of immediate- and medium-term measures in addressing the challenges posed by the fuel subsidy removal.

He expressed anticipation of collaboration with the federal government to extend the benefits of a conditional grant of N50,000 to around 1,300 businesses across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas.

Additionally, he highlighted the potential for residents to access the N100 billion commercial agricultural loan from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) at an interest rate of nine percent.

Governor Soludo conveyed his commitment to finding practical solutions to the economic impact of fuel subsidy removal, underscoring the significance of collaborative efforts and innovative measures.
