The Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 6 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, confirmed the operations in a statement on Sunday.

In Rivers State, soldiers on routine patrol in Okarki Community, Ahoada West LGA, intercepted a Toyota 4Runner SUV loaded with over 1,600 litres of stolen diesel. The driver reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled. Further searches uncovered 23 sacks of refined products, while in Degema, troops seized a wooden boat packed with petroleum products. At Obiafor in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, a vandalised pipeline was discovered, with troops recovering a 250-metre hose, metal pipes, and six sacks containing 300 litres of illegally refined diesel.

The operation extended to Delta State, where troops stormed an illegal depot in Ogwu Community, Warri South LGA. There, they uncovered a 20,000-litre facility filled with stolen diesel, a tanker with 10,000 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and sophisticated pumping and metering machines. Two empty tanks and another tanker, BEN 223 ZW (Edo State), loaded with petroleum products, were also seized.

In Bayelsa, raids in Biseni, Yenagoa LGA, led to the destruction of illegal refining pits, while in Okordia, a Toyota Camry conveying over 600 litres of stolen diesel was intercepted.

Meanwhile, intensified patrols in Akwa Ibom along notorious smuggling routes disrupted the movement of vandals and crippled their supply networks.

The Army stressed that the ongoing operations are aimed at protecting critical national assets, curbing economic sabotage, and safeguarding the environment.

“These operations will continue relentlessly until these saboteurs are completely dismantled,” the statement vowed.
