Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s Special Adviser on Media, Paul Ibe, criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that it has made Nigeria unrecognizable. This statement came in response to Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s remark that Nigerians would not recognize the country by the end of Tinubu’s second term.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja, Senator Akpabio expressed confidence that Tinubu’s tenure would bring significant changes, making the Federal Capital Territory and the entire country unrecognizable in seven years. He urged Nigerians to pray for the president, hoping the nation’s current challenges would be resolved.
Senator Akpabio praised the Kugbo Bus Terminal as a remarkable project under Tinubu’s administration and lauded the appointment of Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, calling it a perfect fit.
Reacting to Akpabio’s implied endorsement of Tinubu’s second term, Paul Ibe argued that Tinubu’s economic policies have already made Nigeria unrecognizable, causing widespread hardship within a year of his administration. He emphasized that the state of the nation has deteriorated, making it “scattered, battered, and shattered.”
Atiku Abubakar, on June 5, also criticized Tinubu’s presidency, stating that Nigeria is not functioning under his leadership. Addressing the fuel subsidy controversy, Atiku accused the administration of deception, highlighting the Minister of Finance Wale Edun’s proposal to continue paying subsidies in 2024 as evidence of misleading economic strategies.
Atiku reiterated his stance that Nigeria is not working and described the administration’s policies as a “cocktail of trial-and-error.” He asserted that Nigerians deserve better than the current state of affairs and the administration’s deceptive practices.
