The suit was brought on behalf of the student, a Junior Secondary School One pupil at Junior Secondary School Durumi II. Court documents state that the girl is originally from Rivers State.

In an affidavit submitted to the court, Obasi said he came across videos and photographs posted on the actress’s official Facebook page on March 6, 2026. The materials allegedly showed what he described as a forceful religious deliverance carried out during a visit to the school.

He further stated that the widespread circulation of the video could expose the child to emotional distress, shame, and long-term psychological harm.

Obasi also questioned the decision to share images and videos of the minor online, arguing that publishing them without safeguarding her identity violated her right to privacy as guaranteed under the Nigerian Constitution and the Child Rights Act.

He told the court that portraying the schoolgirl as being possessed and attempting to expel such spirits could result in discrimination, ridicule, and stigmatization from peers and members of the public.

The lawyer maintained that such conduct may extend beyond acceptable religious expression and could expose minors to public stigma, particularly in communities where beliefs about spiritual attacks are prevalent.
