Tomori, who served under the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, made the announcement on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
He revealed that he will be contesting to represent Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II in Lagos State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Explaining his decision, Tomori said his move is the result of years of political involvement and a growing passion for governance.
He noted that his political journey was shaped early on by his interest in Nigeria’s history, particularly the events surrounding the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which significantly influenced his awareness of national politics.
According to him, witnessing public reactions during that period left a lasting impact and motivated him to stay engaged with political developments.
He also acknowledged the influence of key figures such as Bola Tinubu, Anthony Enahoro, and Dan Suleiman, as well as his former principal, Alake, in the pro-democracy struggle under the National Democratic Coalition, which played a role in Nigeria’s return to civilian rule in 1999.
